South African born with Sri Lankan heritage, Ecca Vandal grew up in Melbourne where her keen ear for jazz, hip-hop, rock and punk-rock combined to inform her current signature sound. Ecca’s colourful heritage is well represented in her music, lyrics and staunch refusal to be pigeonholed. After careening into our collective consciousness in 2014 with the release of anthemic debut single “White Flag”, 2015 saw Ecca graduate on to become a mainstay of triple j rotation with a barrage of adrenalin-charged tracks including punk influenced “Battle Royal”, hip-hop infused “Father Hu$$la” and gritty soul number “End Of Time.” After 2 years on the road including supports for Aussie punk stalwarts the Hard-Ons, UK electronic idols The Prodigy, Birds Of Tokyo & Gang Of Youths and a performance at Splendour in the Grass 2016, Ecca’s debut album is being set for release early 2017.
